today’s email may cut a little close to the bone
But don’t blame me, I’m only the messenger
Blame the scientist nerds who study this stuff!
In one of the emails I read every morning the following statement was made about a study:
“GPs urged to be honest with obese patients about weight loss”
Said study (carried out with 19 THOUSAND people) revealed that people who
were ‘confronted’ by their GP’s about their weight lost more than DOUBLE the amount
of weight than those who were ‘advised’ to join a weight management program.
Basically, the doctors who told their clients they need to lose weight got better results for their clients than the doctors who stepped around the issue and wouldn’t face it head on.
Obviously it’s a tough issue and we always have to be careful of these things
But in a world that has gone way to far on the Political Correctness side of things
It’s good to see that being honest with people still has it’s benefits.
And I have known people over the years that have been told they need to lose weight if they want to have children, or want to get an operation they need
At some point you just need to bite the bullet and make it happen when all the signs are pointing in one direction.
Especially when these opinions are coming from people that actually know what they are talking about.
Of course I’m not promoting that we all go about calling people Fat, I know there’s no danger of 99% of people reading this being told by their doctor they need to lose weight
But we all get some home truths at various points in life and while it can hurt,
we need to be honest with ourselves moving forward!
Don’t forget the best thing to do on a Monday
Rather than whinging and moaning about it
is to get your workout in and set yourself up for the week ahead!!
