So Monday I said my swim game is getting better
Now I don’t want to oversell it as I’m starting from a VERY low base so when I say I’m getting better,
I’m still pretty useless!
But success is relative and I’m getting there
Heard a great little quote recently that a business coach uses regularly:
Quantity leads to Quality
If you want to get good at anything, ANYTHING, then you need to bloody do it a lot of times to get to any sort of level.
Can you think of anything in your life that you are good or even great at, that you rarely do?
So for the swimming I just start at the shallow end and swim out as far as I can, rarely venturing too far into the deep end unless I’m close to the wall for safety.
But I did a few the other day of getting half way down the pool and a few 2/3s of the way down the pool so I am getting there.
My goal is by the time I leave for Cork for the wedding around 22nd/ 23rd December I will be able to swim down and back without stopping.
And then in the New Year build it up from there.
While you might think not being able to do a full length is still pretty pathetic, and you would be right, I have definitely made more progress in the past 2 weeks than in a long time.
And there is only 1 reason for that.
I got a Coach
I have been doing some 1-2-1 Lessons just for a bit of a blast over the Winter now to pick things up and have learnt different little tricks on how to use the floats to focus on just kicking or just the arms etc
It’s only a 30 minute session and it can feel like longer sometimes but we get a lot done in that half an hour cause he actually knows what he is doing
and can push me on when I’m feeling like a lazy so and so!
We done a session on kicking last week and my legs we’re knackered after it,
no way I would have done that on my own.
I’m sure you can guess where I’m going with this and I won’t hide it as I have found it to be true over and over again in my own life.
If you really want to become good at something and don’t want to spend your lifetime trying to learn
You need someone in that area to help you along the way.
Anytime you have planed to get fit or lose weight have you had much consistent success doing it on your own?
There are numerous studies out there to back this.
Working in groups and being in a positive environment helps to drive people on and achieve their goals.
So hopefully another few lessons and I will achieve my pre xmas/ pre wedding goal!

All our Platinum groups are full at the minute in both facilities apart from 3.
In Dundalk the 6AM as room for 3 more people.
In Cavan we have room at 5:30PM and 8:00PM for 1 person.
