I Was Done Twenty Minutes Ago
The other day, I was leading a challenging workout session for a group of guys who were nearing the end of a set. I asked if they were done, and one of them joked that he had been done 20 minutes ago. He meant that he was completely exhausted and couldn’t do any more. The session was tough, and I decided to do it later in the day. Despite knowing how challenging it was, I pushed myself to complete it with the same weights and timing as the members. If I hadn’t put them through it earlier, I might have made excuses to ease off.
Later that day, a new member told me that he struggles with motivation when working out alone. This is a common issue, and it’s why I enjoy playing football with a team. Even though I might not enjoy running on my own, I can push myself in training and matches. Weight training is also better in small groups because it promotes teamwork and a competitive spirit. Structured workouts will always be more effective than training alone.
